Your Clock

by ·

2/6/2018
I look out
into the blue
I see you
standing there
without a care
a loving stare
dares me
to reach for your hand
to understand
how you turn sand
into solid land
I need to know
what's behind those eyes
when you see the sun rise
for the very first time

does time just stop
or does it drop
like a rock
tick tock
it mocks
gears unlocked
hands spin round
and round
this god damn clock
an incessant ticking sound
vibrates through me
to the ground
the whole world quivers
and quakes
shivers and shakes
until the will
to kill
is more than you can take
with a single dire shrill
you make the world stand still

you make my world stand still
but with your grace
and your good will
not by some dire dreadful shrill
I still don't know
and maybe I never will
what's behind those eyes
when you see your first sunrise
will I ever be apprised
will I only see your guise
your lies
your empty tries
and realize
our hands will never touch
you're too far away
yet I pray
someday
our fingers dance and play
but not today
no
not today

today I hear the clock
tick tock
it never stops
it walks
and talks
it never stops
only you can make it stop
but I'm here
and you're there
between us stands
endless sand
not solid land
you lovingly stare
without a care
I look out
into the blue
I
    see
            you
