You told me today you think about death
No plan in place, but the constant wonder of 'what if?'
'What if I wasn't here? Would anything change?'
'Would it (really) solve any problems? Or would it just lead to more pain and misery?'
'I'm beyond my wit's end; My wick, long burnt through'
I'm out of breath, out of luck, and (soon I'll be) out of time'
'Maybe my time has already run out, maybe my turn has come and gone'
'Maybe I've stayed my welcome and then some'
'What if I was never welcome? What if I was never meant to be?'
You can't help but wonder 'what if?'
It tortures you, the incessant questioning, the elusive answer
'What if I wasn't here? Would anything change?'
You told me today you think about death
Stay with me for one more day; your life gives me reason to live.
