Frantically swimming away from shore.
To what end? I haven't a clue.
Devilish seas, I set off to explore,
Say goodbye to peaceful days of yore.
Mocked by the seagulls overhead
For leaving the safety of shore.
They fire their bullets—leave me for dead,
Left questioning why I ever fled:
Remembering those peaceful/temperate days of yore.
I swim and I swim—my muscles they ache;
No seagulls to taunt me—call this a mistake.
No regrets—I yearn for more.
On this path of self-discovery,
with each stroke I take,
Forgotten are the days of yore.
Finding happiness in my ocean so blue;
Crystal clear waters exposing the truth.
Squalling seagulls I learnt to ignore:
Finding peace in my days anew.
Gone forever are the beguiling days of yore.
