The wealth of the world lay in wait
While the ignorant trample the earth
Patient: in a ready state
While the sins of our past rebirth
It’s been there since the dawn of time
Waiting to be found
Searching without rhythm or rhyme
Deaf to the beckoning sound
Deaf to all the wanting calls
To each unanswered plea
Greedy echoes pound the walls
A sound so grossly obscene
A tawdry existence we’ve painted ourselves
In a race to the very top
We've ignored the beggars who cry for help
In a selfish refusal to stop
Yet the beggars bear riches far greater than gold
If attention was only paid
For each and every person holds
A story, a song to be played
A song so profound, it can alter the ways
Of anyone who dares to hear
A song of love, of triumph, of days
Of endless courage and fear
A song, a story, only one has lived
But together rings a symphony of sound
It's not what we get; it's in what we give
The wealth of the world is found
