Water's Edge

by ·

10/29/2018
You led me to the water's edge
Showed me how to drink
Tied rocks to my feed and pushed me in
To see if I would sink

Deeper, deeper, deeper I fell
Breathlessly trying to tread
Rocks weighing down, I slowly drown
Embraced by my watery bed

The deeper I sink, the darker my sky
I'm losing all sight of light
These rocks, heavier, than my will to survive
I succumb to the fluidity of night

Darkness takes hold, crushes my soul
The water's edge so far away
Your silhouette, your face disappears
into the harrowing gray
