Virgin Clouds

9/15/2018
Virgin white clouds expand as far as the eye can see
like snow-capped peaks, they rise from the plain
sitting tall, towering in their brilliance
casting ominous shadows down below
over the everyday surface of the earth
what gives them the right to float so high?
who anointed them the watchers over us all?
maybe it doesn't matter... I'm stuck down here
in their shadow all the same, just fighting to see
the sunlight for the briefest of moments
