The Sliver in My Shutter

by ·

10/18/2017
The moonlight shines through the sliver in my shutter,
casting an eerie glow on the dimly lit wall.
The floorboards creak under the weight of each
faithful decision I make. Outside, the wind moans
in pain as I curl into the wool blanket protecting
me from the anger my decisions unveil. The rain pounds
my door, demanding to enter. But I refuse to let him in.
For inside I am safe, I am warm, I am dry.
