The Monster

11/6/2017
Past sleepy halls,
behind dour walls,
lies and waits a reason.
In moonlit stalls
you're standing tall,
ready to commit treason.
While the rest of the world
snoozes and sleeps,
you lie awake and wonder
how in his omnipotence,
the Almighty
created such a blunder.
The monster you are
is the monster they see,
as red as the night is long.
He created you
as this monster:
nowhere to belong.
All through the night
and all through the day
they cast such grizzly stares.
For your life eternal
this burden
you shall bear.
It's not your fault
you were born this way
but still
you shoulder the shame.
A monster you are.
A monster you were.
A monster you became.
