Out Again

by ·

You’re out again
Away from sight
Can't be heard
In the dark, blue night
While I'm down here
Kids happily play
Yet I'm all alone
Praying one day
To find the connection
That we once shared
Rather than wondering
If I'll always be scared
Scared things will always
Be like this
The three of us surviving
In the absence of bliss
Hoping to keep things
Together, just so
While inside I shatter
Outside I show
A stoic smile
Confidence and care
This weight upon me
With no one to share
I slowly break down
But no one can see
Heaviness besets
Show me mercy
Just this once
Grant me reprieve
May I do right by my children
Please let them see
How hard I'm trying
To be what they need
To let them grow healthy
Confident, free
But you're up there
Unable to find
The answers you need
To give you back time
Oh, how I pray
That you rise and walk true
Unburdened by ailment
That all-consumes you
Find stength you need
And rejoin us three
To once again be
A family
