Make Me Whole

by ·

3/11/2017
Dismal, droll,
feeling un-whole.
What am I missing?
Where did I go?

I can't seem to find
my peace of mind.
Maybe that's the piece
which has chosen to hide.

Far and wide I look
for the piece you took.
Connecting "I" to "me";
the final chapter of my book.

Will you come back, please,
I'm on my knees.
Don't know why you've gone,
or how I've displeased.

I need you now,
somewhere—somehow—
to make me, me.
I beg, I bow;
I'm not too proud
to admit out loud
that I need you now.

I've paid my toll
though I still don't know
why you've punished me
abandoned me so.
Just come back, please,
why did you go
I don't need to know
but I. Need. You.
to make me whole.
