I'd Like the Sun to Stay

Sitting here in the sun
where all life has begun,

I cannot help but wonder if
you smile down on all of this;

—or if you frown with quiet disdain
pouring down buckets of rain;

—or if you hold you breath—suck it in
breathe it out in gusts of wind;

—or if you cover your eyes when it gets too bright
clouding the sky to gray out the light;

—but a yellow smile will do for today
I think I'd like the sun to stay.
