From the Driver's Seat

The hustle and bustle never sleeps,
me against the world;
A thousand bees buzz and beep
until my nerves unfurl.

Heading into oncoming traffic,
circling thoughts of something tragic;
Speeding without fear,
forward, I blindly steer.

Late at night when the pace slows down
my restless thoughts speed.
Along streets and avenues ripping through town,
street lights they shall not heed.

I need a brake
before it's too late;
My wheels to grab hold
of the slippery road.
