Four Walls

by ·

2/5/2018
The walls
this space
I'm out of place
no warm embrace
just that blank look
on your face
lips gone numb
speechless, dumb
a motionless
serpentless tongue
no way to overcome

the walls closing in
around my sin
paralyzed I've become
sweat on my skin
nothing left to do but give in
to fear
walls so near
I hear
it clear
a voice tells me to disappear
but I'm fully contained
constrained
in these four walls
I have been tamed

no way to break out
prison bars shout
to keep me in
and to keep you out
and I doubt
that I'll see
the light of day
on display
where children play
and lovers lay

in here I'll stay
in the dark
tightening walls bark
I need a spark
to ignite
the night
shine a light
open my eyes
grant me sight
there must be a way
somehow
some way
to break free from these chains
before the walls cave
in on me

I'm begging please
to set me free
I need to be
I need to see
one more day
before I leave
one more breath
the smallest reprieve
before the walls cave
in on me
