Death Does Call

by ·

1/2/2019
I scribble and scrawl
all over the wall
blood soaked tears
open and raw

I fight the night
hoping to write
one final letter
the story of my plight

But the night is long
death sings her song
she leaps and weeps
cradles and keeps
my head so tender
'til I believe I belong

She offers a promise
of life beyond death
life without pain
with-out regret
a life where I don't
have to hold my breath

So I grip her hand
she helps me stand
leads me away
into the gray

The scribble and scrawl
all over the wall
is all that remains
when death does call
