I stretch, grasp, for a sense of control
Something to settle my itchy bones
I violently claw, praying what's there
Is something more than empty air
Deep in the void, unable to see
What it is to simply be
My outstretched arm in blackness holds
Onto hope that slips and scolds
I squint and struggle to see the truth
Through the midnight sea of blue
Longing for answers that won't reveal
Why these wounds refuse to heal
How can I keep my bloodshot eyes
From gazing out on a prism of lies
I know I'm safe, yet my body still quakes
The calm is absent when madness shakes
Salty tears, raining down
Filling my body, soaking the ground
Heavy clouds: every mistake
Drowning under the torturous weight
Still I lay: unable to hear
The beat of the drum, retreating fear
I've nothing left to give; I gave
Sunk beneath my watery grave
