On the canvas of of night
stars speckle the sky
the moon adds color
to the clouds passing by
an orange-yellow tinge
a radiant glow
spreading warmth
down below
as the moon rises
overhead
sleepy children
settle in their beds
she soon takes over
the deep black night
dancing en pointe
a resplendent spotlight
an artists palette
a dancer's stage
a musician's trumpet
a poet's page
on the canvas of night
stars speckle the sky
a picturesque portrait
of perfection on high
