I'm surrounded by fire
and you want to be
right there in
the fire with me
I won't let you sit
with me as I burn
praying that
the tides will turn
and extinguish the fire
before damage is done
before the smoke
invades our lungs
and I can't pretend
the fire's not real
that won't help
my oozing burns heal
I try to protect you
by pushing you away
