Whores and Hymns

by ·

2/14/2019
a symphonic story of whores and hymns
one we push down into the dirt
pretend we don't notice when looseness flirts
the other we sing praises to Him
pray that all our sins forgiven

but how different are they, hymns and whores
        worldly transgressions, morality stale
face to the sky, dreams gone pale
both require a visit to thy confession's door
who are we to judge anyone, anymore

so when the day is done and we crawl into bed
since we all are the same under His sun
no one deserves to be cast out: shunned
on a pillow or the floor, we rest our weary heads
we'll be as one again when we're old and when we're dead

so give me your meek, your poor, your sin
cast aside notions of right and wrong
listen carefully to thy sounding song
round ye together, as one, as kin
for a symphonic story of whores and hymns
