each time I arrive at
home, i smell the
perfume of familiarity.
when i walk through
the door, my eyes rest
a little, seeing what
has already been seen.
i drop my baggage to
the ground; relief from
such a heavy weight.
i remove my shoes: feet
naked as the day i was
born. sitting in silence, i
allow my mind to be;
thoughts floating on
passing clouds. i choose
to exist outside the
world of want, of thinking,
of knowing. i choose to
exist in the world that
simply is. every inhale
brings new air into my
lungs, air i have never
breathed. the setting
may be familiar but
the moment is always
fresh & new & beautiful.
