Understand Me

by ·

10/11/2018
You don't understand the things I do
can't see it from my point of view
standing there you try and see through
the distance between me and you

The distance is long, dark, and vast
you yell in vacuum, 'I'll be there fast'
the fire is burning, you're down to your last
you don't know what's in my past

To truly, clearly understand me
you must see things the way I see
stand as I stand, be as I be
within the darkness, the fire burns deep

How did my flame come to glow
a question, the answer, you ought not know
while my fire burns deep and slow
all it takes is the faintest blow

You say you want to understand
well, my dear, hold out your hand
part of me lives in each grain of sand
I slip through your fingers, down to the land
that's why you'll never understand
