The World I Live In

my leg shakes
the earth quakes
what will it take
for me to wake
from this nightmarish state
I'm living in
how to make up
for my countless sins
how do I breathe
when the air is thin
close my eyes
ready my chin
one long inhale
so long it's been
since my lungs were full
emptiness wins
I don't even know
where to begin
to my chagrin
I'm lost in the very
world I live in
