The words you said that night
Are chiseled into my mind
A hammer to my conscience
No need to let them sink in
They were engraved into my skull
The moment they passed your lips
Some things you can’t take back
The unforgiving truth of impulsivity
[A box, once opened
To never be shut again]
I think about those words
Endlessly yearning to forget
To wake one morning
And fail to remember what caused such grief
To go on my way
Ignorant as the day we met
The Words You Said
