The Undertow

by ·

2/4/2020
changing tides
roll in & out
ebb & flow
scream and shout
the undertow
pulls me out
away from you
the ocean blue
someday soon
I hopefully yearn
for you to return
bring me to you
treading there
in the ocean blue
I was scared
that I'd lose you
but you searched
and you found
brought me to
solid ground
my muscles were weary
vision blurry
you said don't worry
you saved me
I all but gave in
when the tides rolled out
gave in to sin
surrendered to doubt
but you found me
offered a hand
returned me to land
to the safety of your shore
that was there before
and I ignored (it)
not anymore
the tides will continue
to ebb & flow
but I won't go
I won't surrender
to the undertow
the love you show
helps me know
I'm safe on your shore
safe to explore
gives me the confidence
to do more
be more
be me
all because you let me see
just how strong
I can be
no, I won't go
with the undertow
I'm here to stay
in the calm of the bay
living my best life
everyday
