The vision created in my mind
The version of you that’s all I see
A fragile construct of sticks and twine
A dimly lit fantasy
I feed the fire to keep it bright
A desirous flame I cannot lose
Holding space throughout the night
Gripping tight a ghost of you
As the sun begins to rise
My palms are charred, my arms grown weak
The twine unravels—dreams belie
I see the truth I did not seek
