The Clock Ticks Slow

by ·

10/26/2017
When the clock ticks slow
and the lights dim low

overwhelmed with fright
in the darkening night

you come to me
to set me free

from the chains that bind me
to thee.

Years have passed
since my last

breath of fresh air
steps without care

now with the chains unlocked
I gaze at the clock

seconds pass by
fear draws nigh.

With my freedom at hand
naked I stand

unsure where to go
as the clock ticks slow

comfort I found
when I was bound

no steps to take
no decisions to make.

Better it may be
when I was not free

held down by your hand
no room to stand

now enslaved by my fear
I call you near

no better than before
chained to the floor.
