The Blues

by ·

3/17/2019
the sobbing of the saxophone
gets me every time
an undertone of the melancholy
bass grounds the sound with
a certain longing
the guitar steps up front
with melodic variations
while the keys sing harmony
with lonely despair
yet every now and then
the harmonica hums
a hopeful tune
lifting my heart just enough
to hear the story
of the blues
