Tap, Tap, Tap

by ·

7/30/2015
Tap, tap, tap...
The hollow banging rings out.
Left, right, up, down,
     I can’t seem to escape.
Why, why does this tapping persist?
     Solace I shall not take.
Haunting echoes linger about.

Tap, tap, tap, tap...
My mind can find no reprieve.
I scratch and I claw
     until blood drips down;
Why, oh why
     can’t I vacate this sound?
In pools of crimson
     I am now surround:
Gasping for air,
     I can't breathe.

Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap...
My God, no more
     can I take.
To end this nightmare
     would bring me such high!
Drowning, sinking,
     in this lonely coffin I reside.
I’d give anything, anything
     if just for a moment—
     the singing and
     ringing subside;
No more options,
     no hope,
I greet the darkness—
     my impending bride.
Now the tapping,
     she feeds me my cake.

Tap, Tap, Tap, Tap, Tap, Tap...
