Stay In Your Lane

by ·

4/24/2020
If I stay in my lane
I'll go insane
that would be the bane
of a fruitless reign
how do I regain
control of my brain
my mind is plain
lame
out of the game
I need to retain
a semblance of sane
without refrain
by love or pain
no wax, no wane
let it be the same
that's all I ask for in His name
so I can have a chance to claim
what I've earned; the track I've lain
brought to me by the workman's train
showered down in cloudless rain
feed the grain
good things must end but I'm not staying
I'll keep paying
my dues, my debt, I'll keep praying
until it comes, I'm not caving
I don't need saving
so pack your bags, I'm not playing
this road I'm paving
is for those behaving
following orders, stuck obeying
that's not for me, I'm done slaving
serving someone else who's dictating
no more placating
I'm building my haven
no longer you, it's me that I'm craving
no more delaying
I put my myself first is what I'm saying
