Starlit Doorstep

by ·

3/12/2019
upon a starlit doorsteps stands
the ghost of a forgotten man
who once held life in his two hands
now exiled to a lonely land

a silhouette all that remains
a wasted life: he became
all for naught his toil and pain
won't keep him dry amidst the rain

perched upon the doorstep too
a shadowed cloak of gray and blue
to keep him warm when winds blow through
a most dull pain: he and you

wind cuts deep as rain knifes down
huddled on the dampened ground
he disappears without a sound
a lonely soul never found
