Spontaneous Poetry

The night gleams bright while the day is hauntingly dim
I’m stuck in this unrecognizable world
A world of my own making, yet still not my own
I wander through deserts, forests, ice
Searching for something familiar
Everything I see is foreign, inverse, incomprehensible
But that doesn’t make it wrong or right
It just is… it is the truth I see
Not the truth I remember but truth nonetheless
As I gaze into the faces of countless others
All with eyes pointed down to the ground
I can’t help but wonder if they’ve seen what I now see
If they know what I don’t know
And that’s why they won’t look up
Or are they just lost in a world of their own
Without consideration of what’s around them
Who’s around them, why they’re here
Why am I here? What am I searching for?
Answers to questions I don’t know to ask
Or am too afraid to ponder
For fear that the answers may lead to an outcome
I don’t desire or don’t understand
Why is that frightening?
Everything in the future is unknown, unwritten
So, grab a pen and a sheet of blank paper
Imagine the world you want to be
And write it into existence
You are the visionary and the creator
Dare to dream; dare for more than you thought possible
And keep writing until your ink well runs dry
