So Damn Tired

by ·

4/23/2017
Spending night after night
alone with my mind—
just me and my thoughts
traveling through time:

of past, present, future:
of way back when,
of everything now,
of what will be then.

Why won't you turn off
and let me be?
Give my mind respite—
time enough to breathe.

I'm so damn tired
of this circus in my head,
pack it all up:
     lower the tent,
     corral the animals,
and let me go to bed.
