Share the Moon

by ·

11/20/2019
I want to share the moon with you
over a cup of tea
while we laugh about the past
dream about our future
but exist only in the present

the clouds pass slowly
yet never dull the shimmering silver light
that emblazons the night sky from above
winking stars remind us
that life is fleeting
short
and eternally beautiful

distant galaxies smile
knowing the majesty
that comes from chaos
created over billions of years
and ever-changing
they have learned to accept themselves
as they are
always growing
learning
morphing

sitting here with you
our lives too
are ever-changing as the galaxies
the universe expands and shrinks
in pure nothingness
where all life began
where time started
what perfect random acts
must have occurred
to bring you and me together
on this planet
to share the moon
over a cup of tea
