Round and Round

by ·

7/27/2016
Round and round I go again
     Seldom stopping to take pause
This road I'm on—charred cement
     A lifetime of concrete loss

Line after line passes me by
The tree line a familiar blur
The scenery is but a foolish disguise
To blind me from my imminent return

If I were just to stop and look around
I would see the familiar sights
But under my feet, I'm racing the ground
     Chasing ever-higher heights

So round and round I go again
     Never finding what I seek
I'll never reach my destination
     Until my final sleep
