Never Be Home

by ·

10/31/2018
Buried underground
Can't make a sound
I pound
And I pound
But will not be found
My mind in turmoil
The soil I claw
Till my fingers rub raw
My constant toil
My blood boils
Stuck and coiled
I can't get out
Of this G-d damn soil
I shout to get out
But no one hears
My pleas and tears
That soak the dirt
Wet my fears
Nourish my hurt
Spent countless years
Down here
Where nothing's clear
I hear the footsteps
On the sidewalk
People talk
And talk
Incessantly squawk
Laugh and cheer
And jeer
While I'm down here
Rotting away
In my living grave
No one to save me
No one cares
I gave my life
For a reason unknown
The cruel world
Once my own
Now no one atones
For the sins they've sown
While I'm down here
All alone
Their sins my own
Surrounded by stone
Somewhere that will
Never be home
