One day soon I’ll come to know
How my past has hardened my soul
Then how to accept it as part of my whole
Then how to take back control
Maybe that day is not today
But I pray it’s not too far away
When the hurt of my past is fully at bay
And forgiveness is here to stay
Until then I’ll try again
Make amends, see to the end
I know my journey forks and bends
The pain of my past does not portend
My future is not yet penned
