Misplaced Sigh

by ·

2/3/2021
In my eyes
Hiding the lies
I tell myself
To survive
I’m blind
You pry
You chide
Deride
But get denied
What’s my crime
Leave me alone
I decry
Drowning under
The weight of the sky
I’ve paid my fee
To the other side
Yet kept alive
By a misplaced sigh
My lungs cry
Life nigh
I still have time
I have to find
A way
A rhyme
A reason
A sign
A simple line
Nothing sublime
Something, anything
To tell me why
Why I’m here
Why I didn’t die
Stripped of my pride
I must confide
I don’t deserve
Another try
Yet here I lie
You by my side
And I realize
that you... you
are the reason why
