Misery

by ·

11/16/2016
Who says that misery loves company,
When instead, company brings misery?
Then my misery infects company
Leaving us all in misery.

Maybe we all love misery
And create our company
Around misery, leaving
Us all miserable.

And if laughter is the best medicine
Why is it in such short supply?
When surrounded by laughter, how am
I still in misery?
My company may be laughing, but
It is not "laughter loves company,"
It is "misery loves company".

Because misery trumps laughter
Laughter may be the best medicine
But misery is an incurable disease
For which there is no antidote
