Misaligned Expectations

by ·

2/17/2019
i would flay the skin
off my bones
to show you
the anguish
in my soul
the bleeding
of my heart
but you would look
unmoved
and turn away
with less care
than smudged lipstick
(which you never wear, anyway)
and only you
hold the needle
and thread
to stitch me back together
handing me off
to the next passer by
so i am no longer
your problem
i was never your problem
to begin with
was i?
