Mask of Mine

by ·

9/30/2018
My cautious, steady, ready smile
is nothing but pure, deep denial
misery's taken me by the hand
pulled me up, helped me stand

Then pushed me down to the floor
whose sadistic tendencies, I ignore
all along I deny
so I don't have to look you in the eye

I'd rather pretend everything's just fine
so I don this smile, this mask of mine
