Live Your Life

by ·

2/7/2019
Behind a wall you've been immured
separate from the world: secured
for all that time you were engaged
your fears, anxieties have been assuaged
while lonely you may come to be
you see only what you wish to see
safe inside a tomb of stone
your fate is anything but your own
for when death comes roaring through
your wall is not enough to save you
your sins are heavy, your heart beats fast
this next breath may be your last
a lifetime wasted; all for naught
paralyzed by fear, you sought
refuge from the world out there
your freedom stripped—naked, bare
you may have been spared countless strife
but that's no way to live a life
