Led to Water

by ·

3/25/2024
I was led to the water
but told not to drink;
held powerless to your command.
As I knelt beside,
you chastised me, scolded me,
beat my ego until it was reduced to a pile of rubble.
I slake as I'm left to bake
in the summer sun as the water dries up
and evaporates into the dry, cloudless sky.
