Joy Peeling

by ·

7/8/2019
Joy peeling down my face
(Of) a memory I can’t erase
I just can’t seem to find a place
Pain takes hold incites such haste
Seagulls squawk and taunt and chase
Running an endless un-winnable race
Can’t keep up the furious pace
What if this all is just a waste
Nothing’s quite as good as it tastes
All my victories effaced
Cooking in gritty burning baste
What I need is an act of grace
A forgiving soul I can’t replace
To thank enough for giving me space
To explore my soul through self-embrace
