Inside or Outside

by ·

2/7/2018
Inside, lights shower a faux warmth of fluorescence
cubicles create living spaces for the rats

Outside, the rain showers the earth
Clouds cast wet shadows over all they see

Inside, walls are the prison
doors are the iron bars

        Outside, trees attempt to shelter
        from razor sharp wind

Inside, chains bind to a desk
legs and minds go numb

        Outside, mother nature is merciless
        dangerous beasts abound

Inside, you'll succumb to boredom
and lethal monotony

        Outside, you'll suffer from starvation
        and threatening isolation

And the only thing that separates the inside from the outside
is a thin pane of glass
