Innocent Smile

by ·

7/1/2016
Peering back through the foggy mirror
     A face I've grown to despise.
I pray that each morning I begin to see clearer,
     A smile masked by lies.

When your demons glare back with that menacing grin;
How to confront them, where to begin?
Maybe today is the day I give in:
Marrying all of my sins.

When I wipe away fog from glass,
What do I see but that sinister mask.
Succumbing to my demons at last:
     An innocent smile I belie.
