I'm Not the Person

by ·

4/6/2016
I'm not the person I want to be,
Not the teammate I want to be,
Not the friend I want to be.

I so badly want to be that person,
But it is easier to avoid conflict
And don the mask of
Overwhelming egotism.

I have hurt those around me,
And in the process
Hurt myself,
My emotional stability,
My reputation,
My self-confidence

How do I change myself
When I can't even confront
who I see in the mirror?
I can't seem to face
my own inadequacies.
I guess I'm just not the person
I want to be.
