I Wish It Weren't So

by ·

3/3/2016
I wish it weren't so
But I already know
how this sad story will end

See, I've read it before
"Stop now!" I implore
My sorrows are all I can lend

They have stories, their own
From before I was grown
Bathed in doubt, I pretend

Dreams are just that
Reality lays flat
Broken hearts won't mend

You offer a glance
I can't take the chance
Uncertain romance is penned

In solitude I lie
All hope is denied
Of any change to ascend
