I walk into a crowded room
No one notices that I’m there
Adrift among a sea of people
I’m a ghost, floating along
Present in body alone
I rock from side to side
My mind: as lost as my will to push on
I crave loneliness, isolation
Evading casual glances
I vanish into the noise
Energy pours all around me
Yet I can’t seem to get a taste
Retreating to an empty table
I stand alone and watch the world pass by
A distant observer to my own reality
I see everything, everyone
Through a one way mirror
Hiding in plain sight
Blending in while quietly wishing
That someone, anyone
Would notice—or care
To break me free from my self-imposed prison sentence
But what would I do with that kind of freedom
I wouldn’t know where to begin
Being truly seen is a memory that eludes me
A forgotten reverie
Maybe it’s best I remain a ghost
Walking into a crowded room
Where no one notices I’m even there
I walk Into a Crowded Room
