Haven’t really breathed since I don’t know when
Lungs so heavy I can’t pick up the pen
Mind stirring, thoughts burning
Fingers: cramped, vision: blurry
Under the weight of daily churn
Battered by forces I can't discern
Not knowing when the bruising will end
When I, finally, will make my return
Until that time, I'll swallow and seep
One-by-one, counting sheep
Where I pretend I'm on the mend
While inching further into the deep
