For You

by ·

1/9/2023
The tears you cry
The screams, I try
To do anything
And everything I can
To settle you
To a sigh

But I can’t get close
I won’t approach
Your distraught
And I cannot
Add to the pain
In which your engrossed

Some say it’s drama
But it looks like trauma
How you feel
Is more than real
I know all to well
It settles upon us

And lives in our bones
It burns, it groans
It aches
I quake
In your eyes
Afraid you're alone

So I submit to accept
What I can’t reject
But I won’t be
What was done to me
You deserve more
Than sour neglect

Or tyrannical reign
Waxing insane
Calm, dear child
I see you’re riled
Trust in my words
Safety regained

I know that this
Is far from bliss
Hear me
Don't fear me
I'll cradle your woes
With a quiet kiss

So cry your tears
Release your fears
Do what you
Need to do
I'll remind
I'm always here

You'll make it through
Not me, but you
When you're ready
My love is steady
Without words, I know
You love me too

You're safe, secure
You've endured
What's passed
Won't last
With a deep breath in
See the clear

In front of you now
Release, allow
Dread to go
Serenity exposed
Be with me
I'm endlessly proud

I know it's tough
But you're enough
I've been there too
And I promise you
While it isn't easy
The waters, rough

Steer it straight
Your will is great
Soon you'll see
What it means to be
Proud of yourself
Your own first mate

No matter where to
Your sail takes you
Know that I’ll
Always be true
I’m here for you
Anywhere or when
I’ve always been
Right where I am
For you
