Flutter Your Wings

by ·

3/6/2016
Flutter your wings, sweet butterfly
Float on the passing breeze
Glide with grace, my dear friend
Glide with with the steadiest of ease

The wind sways trees to and fro
With branches, arms stretched wide
The towering forest echoes the sound
Their partner e'er at their side

The softest rain trickles down
Satisfying all who thirst
The pitter-patter of every droplet
Right before they burst

The rain picks up, a looming storm
Hurling wind around
Blowing through branches, ripping off leaves
Before ever making a sound

The boom comes later, unaware
Ready, they were not
Hiding in shelters, ill-prepared
Frightened, troubled, distraught

Nature has a way with words
Any story it can tell
As booming as a thunderous roar
As soft as a ringing bell
